Trust In Your Journey and Give It Time
Be very afraid of anything that claims it will help you lose
weight without exercise and good nutrition. Chances are you will lose a few
pounds in the beginning, but you’ll gain back even more. The truth is we all want quick and easy
results, but the journey to lose weight and get healthy for the long term is usually
not quick and easy. Many of us want to swallow a pill, have a surgeon lop off
fat or cut out parts of our insides because we don’t want to put in the effort and
allow the process of “healthy weight loss” to work. NOTHING replaces exercise and good nutrition. It’s finding that “thing” that will make the
journey to get healthy by working out and eating well bearable so it eventually becomes a lifestyle for you. I’m still on
my journey, but it gets easier every day, especially when I see the results pay
off.
A HUGE key for me has been finding motivation and inspiration from others. Find people who will motivate, inspire and support you. I have found that by reaching out to others in my same boat,
discussing not only our weak moments, but our triumphs as well, has been the missing key all along!

PIYO ~ My Soulmate Workout!
PIYO was my first program when I started on this journey to get healthy. I was SO NERVOUS! I saw an infomercial and thought it looked really cool, but I'll be the first one to say ~ I am not a fan of yoga. I don't like the holding of positions while I'm dripping with sweat, and quite frankly, I sucked at it. I'm thinking "I'm overweight, I'm not flexible and I'll look foolish, etc, etc, etc...". I have since curbed my negative self talk, but if I'm to be honest, this is what was going through my head at this time.
I started researching PIYO because there were so many amazing transformation stories on Instagram and Facebook. I liked that it was low impact and who doesn't love Chalene Johnson! I listened to an interview with her on some show and she said she was also not a fan of yoga and explained that PIYO is NOT like a traditional yoga classes. The moves were similar, but you are constantly moving...I WAS SOLD!
I knew I'd be uncomfortable. I knew I'd feel awkward (and look awkward). I also knew that I needed to feel all of those things if I really wanted to make changes and see results.
I was ready...really ready...for the first time in a long time to make a change. Here is one of my favorite quotes and one that resonated with me, especially at the beginning of this journey...

About Me!
Hi, there! My name is Charlani (shar-lonny) and I just turned the big 4-0 last year- eeeeek! I have two beautiful and amazing kids. My daughter, Kaylee, is 19. She recently graduated from cosmetology school (yay for me...I have my very own hair stylist!) - she loves hair and makeup so it will be exciting to see where it takes her! My son, Robbie, is almost 16. He plays AAA hockey, so we are a busy, busy family. I have been with my husband, Rob for 21 years! He is the most amazing husband and father so I think I'll keep him for a while longer...LOL
I am a hawaiian California girl, currently living near Dallas, Texas. My husband's job moved us here about 4 years ago and we LOVE it! It's been one of the best decisions we've made yet. I do miss the beach in the summer and the snowy hills in the winter, but I'm still happy we're here. We've met some amazing people and made great friends, and our kids have flourished. The opportunities for them here are so much greater. California is awesome, but in our life right now, Texas is a better fit. And its only a 2 1/2 hour flight away...no biggie!
My Weightloss Journey
A weightloss journey is an up and down process. I can say now that I am on the upswing and finally feel like it's all clicking into place. There are always ups and downs in the path, but if you stick with it, you'll find your way...here is my story...
I have always been more of a curvy type figure. In high school, I played volleyball, basketball and softball, so I was pretty active, but never what you would have called "skinny".
My real weight loss problems started after I had my daughter. I gained 55+ pounds with her and ate nothing but Taco Bell (don't judge! If I knew then what I know now...) I seriously thought something might be wrong with her at birth, but thank all holy goodness, she was perfect! I was really sick during my pregnancy and tacos were the only thing I could keep down (go figure!) I had dropped about half of that weight but not all of it.
